The Holidays

The Holiday Season can sometimes be the most difficult time of the year for Children of Alcoholics. The season presents more opportunities for your parents to have an excuse to drink, and you're stuck at with less options to escape the situation. For those that are grown adults, you're most likely receiving drunk phone calls reminding you of your difficult childhood.

When I was a child I tried my hardest to be at church or over at my friends homes during vacation break. This would give me a break from my difficult home life and help me to enjoy the Christmas season. When I wasn't home I felt like a different person, and I molded to the environment around me. I truly would wish and hope to eventually become this person, not the person I was when I was at home.

Though this might be a very difficult time for you, I want to remind you that you are not alone. There are others out there that face the same struggles and through Christ you can find hope and strength. Know that I am sending out a blanket of prayer for you today that will surround you. May God grant you peace, love, and the hope needed to make it through the season.

You are faced with this challenge today to mold you into the person you will become tomorrow. Go in peace and find your strength in the Lord.
